Daniel Fast
2012
January 9-29, 2012
For God alone my soul waits in silence; from
Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I
shall not be greatly shaken. Psalm 62:1-2 (ESV)
Our greatest problems in life come from
our lack of knowing and depending on God. The obvious solution is to do what
the Bible calls “waiting on God”, so that we will 1.) get more of God, 2.)
cultivate a deeper sense of His presence and power in our lives, 3.) seek a
greater experiential relationship with God, 4.) and learn how to entirely
depend on Him as our only Source of Life.
At the beginning of each year, we
encourage the body of Christ to go on a Daniel Fast for 21 days in order to
develop a deeper relationship with God. It is a special season for us to
confront any sin, and destroy all idols that seduce us away from our primary love
for God. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can eradicate self-worship, sin,
and Satanic oppression. While we rid ourselves of substitute “gods”, we pursue
the one true God.
The Daniel Fast also affords us the
opportunity to pray for important breakthroughs in our life and the lives of
those we are called to serve. Fervent prayer in unity with other believers is
the most powerful force on earth. (James 5:16) It is one of God’s prescribed
methods for bringing His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10)
Waiting on God is not passive. It is proactively seeking God’s face, hearing
His voice, praising and worshipping Him, and obeying His Word. God promises
that if we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us. (James 4:7-8)
The Daniel Fast helps set into motion a
lifestyle which glorifies God the entire rest of the year. We will start on Monday January 9th
and end on Sunday, January 29th. Each person and church is
encouraged to end the fast with an agape meal and communion.
Each day of the
Daniel Fast, we will be sending you some practical “coaching” on how you can
really know God, and how you can make Him known to others. Consider forwarding
this information to your family and friends, so they, too, can be impacted by
the training.

Would you consider sending me regular
reports of what God is doing during and after the Daniel Fast? Your testimony
will help build the faith of others.
Remember that it is God Himself who is
spurring you on to seek Him. You would
not even be reading this or considering the Daniel Fast if it were not Him
drawing you. You want to trust and love God, because He put that desire in your
heart. Be encouraged. What God started in your life, He will finish. (Phil.
1:6)
May God Himself Become Your
Magnificent Obsession!
