The name of our new spiritual family is "Wisdom's House Rock Family". You and your friends are invited! Cities are in desperate need. Crime, poverty, fatherlessness are at epidemic levels. How Prayer Works! Day Seven: Daniel Fast 2013 Beloved of God, There was only one thing the disciples asked Jesus to teach them. It was how to pray. Because they made the connection between Jesus' lifestyle of prayer and his ability to advance God's kingdom on earth, they were eager to learn worship and intercession from their rabbi (teacher). Would you like to know how prayer works? Learning to pray is essential in light of God's promise, "Whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith." Matt. 21:22 Here are key Biblical concepts we need to grasp: 1. In Genesis 1:26-27, God said "let them rule". God delegated a portion of His authority to humanity and therefore "bound Himself" to our faith and actions. He will not move on earth unless we ask Him to do so! 2. Christ's shed blood and death on the cross, His resurrection, ascension, and return to earth in the form of the Holy Spirit, and His infiltration of the human heart, enables us to be "sons of God" who can once again bring the kingdom of God onto the earth underneath Christ's kingly rule. As sons of God, born again and baptized by the Holy Spirit, we have been delegated the authority to take back planet earth. The first and most important way we do this is through worship and prayer. 3. We come to our Father, through the powerful name of Jesus Christ, and we ask God for what has already been purchased by Christ through His death. In other words, all the mercy and grace of God, all the good things in heaven are already available! All we have to do is ask in faith for those things which are God's will, and we will receive them in due time. We do not have to rant and rave, scream and shout, or repeat ourselves over and over again. We have a merciful, good, and loving Father who has already provided the Way for His answers through Jesus Christ. 4. Prayer is really a "legal" request made to a sovereign King, by sons of the King, asking for the King to release His kingdom on earth. See Matt. 6:5-15; Luke 11:1-13 5. The Greek word for "church" in the New Testament is "ecclesia". The "ecclesia" is defined as a ruling legislative governmental entity that has authority to determine what does or doesn't happen in its jurisdiction. When two or more members of the "ecclesia" agree in prayer on what God wants to do in their city or region, take their official request to the King through Jesus Christ, then the King is "free" to grant their petition. This is why corporate prayer, in unity with other members of the body of Christ, is so effectual. The number one "job description" of a disciple of Christ is worship and prayer. Prayer "releases" or "permits" God to move on earth through the Holy Spirit. Praise and prayer are to be the lifestyle of Christ's followers. It is to occur as naturally as breathing, ongoing and without ceasing. Daniel Fast: January 7 - 27, 2013 Dear Family & Friends, At the beginning of each year, we encouraged the body of Christ to set apart three weeks to develop a more intimate relationship with God through worship, prayer, and fasting. We have found that a 21-day Daniel Fast has an incredible impact on every aspect of our lives. See Daniel 1:8-20 Our theme this year is "From Presence to Planting".  As a result of living in God's manifest Presence and Power, in partnership with the Holy Spirit working through us, we have the capacity to start new church-planting churches that can actually transform cities and regions! We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. Becoming Spiritually Intelligent! Day Six: Daniel Fast 2013 Beloved of God, As I have been asking the Lord to make us more into a people of His Presence and Glory, the following has been the encouragement that I received from the Lord, in different ways and venues over the last week or so. It is not all original to me, but it has been a recurring theme lately, and so I receive it as an answer to my petitions. Part of hosting His Presence and being people of his Glory is found in being filled with his Spirit and the Gifts of the Spirit. We are to earnestly desire spiritual gifts. So Lord I pray for an increase of all the gifts of the Spirit in our midst and an explosion of Spiritual Intelligence. 1 Cor 14:1 Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. Heb 5:14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained their senses to distinguish good from evil. The word senses in Greek means an organ of perception…the ability to perceive into the spiritual reality. We are tripartite beings which means we have 3 distinct parts: spirit, soul and body. We are a spirit that has a soul that has a body. There is also three levels of intelligence that we need to recognize: IQ, EQ and SQ. IQ (Intelligent Quotient) is a number representing a person’s reasoning ability. EQ (Emotional Quotient) or emotional intelligence, is really big in the business world for the last 10 years or so. The EQ is the emotional intelligence, the ability to perceive emotions and integrate emotions to facilitate thought, understand emotion and regulate emotion to promote personal and corporate growth. In other words, it’s the ability to read people, not intellectually but from the heart. Great leaders that have lead movements and nations do not have the highest IQ but have a great EQ and are able to move people towards a goal by emotionally touching their heart. The third form of intelligence is SQ (Spiritual Quotient) or spiritual intelligence, which is the ability to discern, perceive and judge the spiritual dimensions that are around you and manage this world toward a positive outcome. God created us a spirit that has a soul that has a body. The soul and the body are good, but we are to be led by our spirit, under the Holy Spirit. People in the world are hungry to develop this part of their being (Harry Potter etc…). They just go about it from the wrong perspective. 1 Cor 12:4 "Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. Vs 5. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. Vs 6. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. Vs 7. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. Vs 8 For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; Vs 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, Vs 10 and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. Vs 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. It’s interesting that there is a variety of effects, though it is the same gift in operation from the same spirit. So three people in the body can have the same gift but it can have a different effect and produce three different ministries, so it can have one effect in one arena and a different effect in a different arena, but it’s the same Holy Spirit. (Some, for example, received the gift of wisdom to carve out ornate wood and all sorts of other crafts - look at the building of the tabernacle). We can us our spiritual gifts, our SQ, wherever we work. Vs 7 It’s all given for the common good. God is good all the time and all the gifts are good all the time. This is the core value of the Holy Spirit, that gifts are given for the common good. If the fruits of the gifts are not good, then it was not the Spirit’s idea. We see that there are many aspects to spiritual intelligence. Let’s look at some of those dimensions and ask for an increase of anointing from the Lord. The gift of discernment. (distinguishing of evil spirits, and also of human spirit) The ability to discern what spirit is influencing the area you are in or people you are in contact with. You can step into someone’s life and know if there is a spirit influencing that person’s life. For example, if you come in contact with someone who has a spirit of suicide on them and you have the gift of discernment of spirit, it will affect you. The way it works with some people is that when you come into the sphere of influence of that person with the spirit of suicide you will have suicidal thoughts and feeling (same for depression, discouragement, fatigue…). If you don’t know that you have the gift of distinguishing of spirit, you can feel bipolar. If you don’t understand this, that it is not your thoughts/feelings/will, you will experience extreme mood shifts as you move from one place to another. God wants you to be aware that this is a gift from the Holy Spirit, and that he has called you to displace those spirits as he has given you authority over them through Christ Jesus. Have you ever gone into a store or a building feeling perfectly fine and 5 minutes after you got there, you feel completely drained and you just want to get out? That is the gift of distinguishing of spirits. As you learn to know that this is not you, you can tell that spirit "get off me"!  "And by the way, while I’m here, get out of this region, this is my city!" That’s how important spiritual intelligence is, so you know you have authority over the spiritual world. The second part of the gift of discernment of spirits is the ability to recognize the amount of favor that is present on people. It’s the ability to discern the amount of favor that is on somebody else (Luke 14 and the parable of the guests…Jesus says,  "take a lower seat", so if someone more “distinguished” that you, someone with more favor comes in, you do not position yourself higher than you should.  You have to recognize the amount of favor that is on someone’s life to place any value on it and receive from them. That gift is important to discern the amount of favor that God has placed on someone, so you can get low and receive from God through that person’s mantel or anointing. Part of Spiritual Intelligence is to no longer know each other according to the flesh but according to the spirit. Without SQ, you want to take a higher seat than you need to, and might be asked to move down, plus you don’t receive from the grace that God intended to pour on you through that person. If you think that person has nothing to give you, then you don’t receive anything. Remember when Samuel went to Jesse’s house to anoint the future king, and Eliab came in and Samuel is going to anoint him king? God says, "you have the wrong son, don’t look at people the way men perceive." If we do not "see" the way God does, then we wrongfully related to ourselves and others.  We must be more aware of who God has placed in our lives, using the gift of discernment. The gift of discernment helps us to see past the weaknesses of others, so that we can submit to the Christ in them. This is called "honor" and is critical for staying in unity with others and attracting the favor of God.  If we don’t practice spiritual gifts, (Heb 5:14) if we are not spiritually intelligent, or not spiritually aware, we miss the blessings that were intended for us. Remember the anointing oil that was flowing down from Aaron’s head and beard and down his leg and all the way to his feet. The same anointing that was on the head, if he was in the right alignment, was the same anointing that was on his feet.  But if you get out of alignment, you create a "dripping point", where the oil falls down and is wasted. This takes increase SQ. When we come under the right alignment, and discern there is something powerful in that person that we need, then we get the same anointing that was on that person. Knowing each other by the spirit, mixed with humility and submission, opens the door to God's favor and blessing. This is the hardest to do with the people who are the closest to you. Why? Because we become so familiar with their humanity and weakness, then we start to judge them, assuming we know their motives (a sin of pride which God strictly forbids). We then dismiss them, pull away, and divide, which cuts off the flow of God's anointing. The family of God has been seriously weakened for lack of humility and SQ (Spiritual Quotient/Intelligence). The gift of knowledge The ability to receive facts and information from the Holy Spirit about this world. I used this gift in my nurse’s office when kids would come in. It’s like cheating almost. :) This gift can be used in any field, medical, engineering, computer programming, teaching, and any other field. We can use this gift in different fields, and it has different effects. The gift of wisdom The ability to rightly apply knowledge unto life. Apostolic gifting is normally very strong with the gift of wisdom, how to position this or that person, rearrange the circumstances this way. It works well in business. It is very powerful when mixed with prophetic gifts and the gift of knowledge. The gift of prophecy The ability to see the future before it happens and the ability to cause the future through releasing the word of God in a timely manner. Gen 41 …Pharaoh has a dream about the future but doesn’t know what it means. Joseph says this v, 25…God has told pharaoh what he is about to do… Same story with Nebuchadnezzar and his dream…Daniel 1 v. 17 God gave them knowledge and intelligence and wisdom and Daniel understood dreams and visions…that is SQ. They got it from God. Nebuchadnezzar was a wicked king but he was spiritually wired. Dan 2:26…God has made known to the king what is to happen in the future… The world is hungry for SQ (Hollywood, music, books), but they don’t know what they are hungry for. They are looking for someone to teach them SQ. The enemy wants to train the world in the dark side, but God wants to release SQ on the earth through His people. I pray for an increased anointing on our church family and the whole Body of Christ.  I pray that we hunger for the gifts of the Spirit and train ourselves to overflow with His Presence wherever we are. Are your heart-eyes open? Day Five: Daniel Fast 2013 Beloved of God, Jesus appeared to the Apostle Paul and commissioned him to "open the eyes" of both the Jews and the Gentiles. The Jews, with their rich history of revelation and scripture and the Gentiles with their Greek-Roman philosophy, were all considered blind by Jesus. Here is the story: Then I asked, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting, the Lord replied. “Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen of me and what I will show you. I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.” Acts 26:12-32 The entire world needed their “eyes opened” to see the reality of Christ and His kingdom. Seeing, with the eyes of the heart, would result in the faith necessary for them to turn from darkness and Satan, receive forgiveness, and enjoy becoming sanctified (set apart as a child of God). Paul later describes this supernatural “eye-opening” experience when he wrote this prayer in his letter to the Ephesian church: “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.” Eph. 1:17-23 In our spirit, the core of our being, we have an ability to “see” with “heart-eyes”. These “heart-eyes” of ours must be opened by the Spirit of God through the Word of God. If we want to see the kingdom of God, then we must be born again by the Spirit. Jn. 3:3-5  When our human spirits are transformed by the Holy Spirit, then our "heart-eyes" open, and we can actually see the reality of the King and the Kingdom. Everything changes.  We get translated from one realm of reality into the heavenly realm. Eph. 1:3,20; 2:5  From this vantage point, seated with Christ, we can effectively advance God's kingdom on earth in every area of life. Let us not assume that we are seeing everything clearly. We can see the Person of Jesus and His kingdom with much greater clarity if our "heart-eyes" get more fully opened. So ask Father, through Christ, to give you (and those you are called to serve) the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, and for the eyes of your/their heart to be enlightened. The Presence is a Person! Day Four: Daniel Fast 2013 Beloved of God, Have you ever wondered how the early church exploded in growth and influence? They had no buildings, sound systems, cell phones, internet, social media, or websites. There was no access to Bibles as they exist today. The New Testament had not been written, and even if it was, almost every follower of Christ couldn't read. The answer is simple. They were in a dynamic relationship with a resurrected, living, Jesus Christ. Jesus lived inside them and was present around them. They were in constant fellowship with a Spirit Person, who infused them with His Power. The Person of Jesus and the Presence of Jesus are one in the same.  When you get the Person, you get the Presence. When you get the Presence of Jesus, you also get His Power.  Person, Presence, Power flowed out of the people of God. It was the eternal, uncreated, Life of the Spirit of Jesus that animated the Body of Christ. So here is the sequence: The Person, Presence, Power of Jesus Christ flowed through the People who were given His Purity, Purpose, and  Plan. My friend Malcolm Webber uses the 5-C's to explain the five expressions of God's grace: Christ, Community, Character, Calling, Competence. The starting point, the number one focus, always needs to be the Person and Presence of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit enables us to stay in relationship with Jesus and then Jesus reveals the Father. The main thing, needs to always be the main thing - the Person and Presence of Jesus Christ. He is central and supreme. Everything was created by Him, through Him, and for Him. I recommend two great resources (in addition to the Bible) that will help you learn how to experience an ongoing sense of Christ's manifest Presence: 1. "Secrets of the Secret Place" by Bob Sorge, 2. "Hosting the Presence" by Bill Johnson. How about committing the rest of your life to really knowing the Person of Jesus Christ and dwelling in His Presence as a lifestyle. Becoming Like Christ – The Great Miracle of Transformation! Day Three: Daniel Fast 2013 Beloved of God, “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.” Romans 8:29 Have you deeply pondered what God’s agenda is for your life? What does God really want to accomplish in you and through you? Perhaps, if you grasp God’s personal mission statement for you, then you will be more eager to cooperate with what He wants to do. Here is the game plan. God wants to literally transform you into a new species, a son of God. (Jn. 1:12, 3:3, 2 Cor. 5:17; Romans 8)  Jesus wants to dwell inside you, so that he can change you from the inside out. (Eph. 3:14-21) God wants to supernaturally transform you into the likeness of Jesus Christ! (1 Cor. 15:49; 2 Cor. 3:18; Ro. 8:29)  Is this actually possible?  YES! Believe it!  it is BOTH true and possible. God is that powerful! Your sin, your weaknesses, your failures are not greater than God's mercy and grace. There are three general areas of your life that God wants to transform into Christ’s likeness: 1.       God wants to renew your mind, so you think exactly the way Christ thinks. 2.       God wants to change your heart, so you have the motives and attitude of Christ. 3.       God wants to alter your behavior, relationships, and lifestyle, so you act the same way as Christ. Your cooperation is essential for this supernatural transformation to take place. God will not impose His will on you. Here are three things you can do to unleash God’s transforming grace: 1.       Spend large amounts of time throughout each day communing with Christ in the “secret place”. The combination of applying God’s Word with the empowerment of God’s Spirit will accelerate change. You become like the Person you    “hang out” with. 2.       Get into transparent, accountable, discipling relationships with members of a healthy church family, people who also want to become like Christ. 3.       Pray, hear, and obey Jesus Christ in every area of life.
